Hexy
> Hexy is a hex map maker for tabletop RPGs. Draw a world one tile at a time, hide it behind fog,
> and reveal it to your players on a second screen.
**Paint a world**
Pointy-top hex grid, click or drag to paint. Rotate and flip individual tiles, drop icons, write
labels, and draw borders along any of the six hex edges with your own colour, width and dash
pattern. Every stroke is one undo step, not fifty — a hundred levels deep.
**Run the map at the table**
Fog of war covers what your players haven't found. Open **Display mode** on a second monitor or a
TV and it mirrors your map live, minus everything you haven't revealed. Paint on your screen; it
appears on theirs.
**Use your own art**
Hexy ships with a starter tile set, but it is built to be filled with yours. Import any folder of
PNGs or SVGs as a tile set or an icon set — subfolders are detected automatically. Nothing is
baked in and nothing phones home.
**Generate a starting point**
Random map generation gives you terrain to react to instead of a blank grid, at whatever size and
orientation you want.
**Extend it**
A plugin system reads local plugin folders, so you can add your own panels and tooling.
**Your files are yours**
Maps save as `.hexy` files on your own disk, with autosave running in the background. No account,
no cloud, no subscription. One purchase, offline forever.
---
**Try before you buy** — the browser demo above is the full editor. Display mode, plugins and
custom icon sets are desktop-only; everything else works exactly as it does in the paid app.
**Available for Windows, macOS and Linux.**
*Windows note: the installer is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will show an
"unknown publisher" warning — choose "More info" → "Run anyway". Signing is planned. The macOS
build is signed and notarized by Apple and opens normally.
